Sins of the Father

Sins of the Father 17x14” graphite on vellum

This is a drawing that developed from a small sketchbook entry. It explores the concept of dealing with the consequences and impact of the actions we undertake and the world that we leave to our children. It was created using graphite on Denril’s multi media vellum, a material I rediscovered as I was doing some studio clean up. It’s a synthetic product that is described as combining the qualities of both plastic film and paper. It’s tough, does not tear easily, and will accept both wet and dry media. I used to do a lot of ink work on it, although the surface does have enough of a gentle tooth to it that it works well with pencil too, and I love the soft translucent look.
