Drawing the Interconnectivity of Life

Everflowing 22.75x18” Graphite with iridescent gold acrylic and Prismacolor pencil on Stonehenge paper.

Now that fall's sting has removed the leaves from a tall maple down the block, I've been able to watch the slow coming apart of a large bald faced hornet's nest woven into its branches. The multiple skins of exposed hornet paper inspired the layered texture on the right side of this drawing. The newest in a series of drawings created around a theme of the interconnected nature of life.

Wanderlust 3 at Modern Eden Gallery

I’m thrilled to have been invited back to Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco, to be a part of their annual travel themed, postcard show, “Wanderlust”. The exhibition consists of artwork created to fit within gallery supplied, postcard sized, boards measuring 5.75x4.13”. The gallery mounts each of the artist’s paintings in matching white frames, approximately 6x8”.

I decided to create a couple of pieces that take a lighter approach to traveling and employed my small skull subject for both paintings. Both were executed with acrylic on rag illustration board and then mounted to the supplied postcard stock.
